Terms of Service
Effective 1 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and El Hadji Fadilou Seck, the private individual who runs Hello World (“we”, “us”). They apply to everyone who uses Hello World. When you sign up, the app links to them and tells you that continuing means you agree to them; you can read them at any time at this address and in the app, in Settings → About. By using Hello World you agree to them; if you do not agree, do not use it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
The service
Hello World is a messaging app for families and communities: chats, voice notes, photos and videos, calls, posts (“Moments”), flashes that can be opened once, automatic translation of messages and speech, location sharing, body measurements for tailoring, stores and orders between members, meetings, Memories that keep your own Moments, supervised accounts for younger users, and Hello World Premium, an optional subscription. It is currently a test version, available by invitation on iPhone (see A test version).
Who may use Hello World
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Hello World. Nobody younger may have an account.
- You may use Hello World on your own if you are at least 16 years old and able to enter into this agreement.
- From 13 until 16, you may use Hello World only with a supervised account: a parent or legal guardian asks, from Parental controls in their own app, to supervise your account, and you accept. Until then, the account can do little more than get that supervision. By supervising, the guardian accepts these terms on the young person’s behalf and is responsible for how they use Hello World.
- Give your real date of birth. Lying about your age to avoid these rules is a breach of these terms.
- You may link as your child only the account of a child whose parent or legal guardian you are. Linking anyone else’s account is a serious breach of these terms.
- You may not use Hello World if we have closed your account for breaking these terms, or if the law forbids you to use it.
Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
- Choose a strong password, keep it somewhere safe such as your iPhone’s Passwords app, and keep your PIN and phone secure. You are responsible for what is done with your account; tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
- An account is for one person. You may not sell, lend or hand over your account.
- We may take back a username that impersonates someone or infringes someone’s rights.
Acceptable use
You must not use Hello World to:
- break the law, or post or send illegal content;
- harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone, or incite hatred or violence;
- harm, exploit or endanger children in any way, including grooming or any sexual content involving a minor — we report such content to the authorities;
- share sexual or intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- send spam, chain messages, scams or unsolicited advertising, or create accounts in bulk or by automated means;
- impersonate anyone — including by using voice features to imitate another person’s voice — or lie about who you are or about your relationship to a child;
- collect other members’ data, for example by scraping, automated searches or harvesting phone numbers;
- send malware; access accounts, data or systems without permission; disrupt the service or overload it; test its security without our written agreement; or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows;
- infringe other people’s rights, such as copyright, trademarks, privacy or the right to one’s image;
- sell illegal, counterfeit or dangerous goods or services, or mislead buyers.
Names, usernames, bios, captions, comments, group names and shop descriptions containing slurs, sexual content involving children or incitement to self-harm are refused before they are published. You can report posts, Moments, comments, messages, conversations, flashes, people, offerings, shops and sponsored content in the app, and block anyone. We review reports promptly; they may lead us to remove content or take action on accounts.
Your content
You keep all your rights in what you post, send and upload: text, voice notes, photos, videos, posts and listings.
To run Hello World we need your permission to handle that content. You therefore give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, transmit, display and deliver your content to the people you choose; to translate it into other languages, transcribe your voice notes and produce spoken versions of them (including in a voice that sounds like yours, as the Privacy Policy explains); and to convert it into the formats needed to deliver it (resizing, compressing, re-encoding). We use this license only to operate and provide Hello World and keep it safe. It ends when your content is deleted from the service, except for copies other people have already received and copies we have to keep, as the Privacy Policy explains.
You are responsible for your content and must have the right to share it. Do not share other people’s personal information or pictures without their permission. We do not monitor all content and are not obliged to, but we may remove content or limit access to it if it breaks these terms or the law, or to protect someone.
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely.
Automatic translation and AI features
- Translations, transcriptions, spoken translations and suggestions are produced automatically. They can be wrong or incomplete, or change the tone or meaning, especially with names, dialects and languages that have less training material, such as Wolof. The original is always the reference.
- Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial, safety or other important decisions without checking with the person or with a qualified translator.
- A translated voice note may be spoken in a voice that sounds like the sender’s, even if the sender never recorded a voice sample, because Hello World can model the voice on their recent voice notes. It is still an automatic translation, not words the sender actually spoke in that language.
- Suggestion cards in chats are produced automatically from recent messages and can misread them. The assistant’s suggestions, and those cards, act only when you confirm them. Check them before you do.
Calls and emergencies
Hello World is not a telephone service and cannot be used to call emergency services. Calls need an internet connection and can fail or drop. To reach emergency services, always use your phone’s ordinary calling and your local emergency number, such as 112 in Europe or 911 in the United States.
Stores, orders and tailoring
- Members can show products, take orders and send tailoring requests to one another. Every sale is between the buyer and the seller. We are not a party to it, we are neither the seller nor an agent of either of them, and we do not guarantee the products, their quality, safety or legality, their delivery, or that a buyer will pay.
- Payment is arranged directly between buyer and seller, outside the app. Hello World does not collect, hold or transfer money.
- Sellers are responsible for their listings being accurate and lawful, and for complying with the rules that apply to them (consumer protection, taxes, product safety, returns).
- You choose whom you share your measurements with; share them only with people you trust.
- Disputes are for the buyer and the seller to settle. We may remove listings or stores that break these terms.
Tontines and meetings
- Savings circles are switched off. No savings circle can be started or joined in Hello World; circles created during the test stay visible to their members. The rules below apply to those, and to tontines once they open.
- A tontine (savings circle) in Hello World is a record of an agreement between its members: who takes part, the amounts, the currency and the schedule. The app never collects, holds, transfers or guarantees money, and it is not a bank, a payment service or a financial intermediary. Contributions and payouts take place between the members, outside the app.
- The members alone are responsible for their agreement, for keeping to it, and for complying with any local rules on savings groups. We are not responsible if a member does not pay or a circle breaks down.
- A meeting you organize is a record for the people you invite.
Hello World Premium
- Hello World is free to use. Hello World Premium is an optional subscription that adds premium chat backgrounds, Moments that stay up for up to a week, and more room for Memories. What it includes may change; if we take something away, we will tell you in the app first.
- You buy Premium in the app, through Apple’s App Store, monthly or yearly. The price, in your currency, is shown by Apple before you confirm, and payment is charged to your Apple Account.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the same length and at the price then in force, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from Premium in the app. Canceling stops the next renewal; Premium continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Apple handles billing, refunds and payment problems under its own terms; ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a payment, Premium ends.
- Deleting your Hello World account does not cancel the subscription; cancel it with Apple, or billing continues.
- Premium belongs to the Hello World account it was bought from, even if another Hello World account signs in on the same Apple Account.
- Memories have a storage limit, larger with Premium. When they are full, new Moments are no longer saved to them until you make room or upgrade; nothing already saved is removed because of the limit. If Premium ends and you are over the free limit, your Memories stay, but new Moments are not saved until you are under it again.
Sponsored content
Hello World shows some sponsored content, marked “Sponsored” (or “Promoted” in the list of nearby places). It never appears inside your conversations. Advertisers are responsible for their content, and showing it does not mean we endorse it. You can hide or report any sponsored item. The Privacy Policy explains what we record.
Other services, and Apple
Some features rely on other companies: Apple (the App Store and in-app purchases, TestFlight, notifications, Sign in with Apple, Maps) and Google (Sign in with Google, YouTube links). Their own terms apply when you use them.
If you got Hello World from Apple, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Hello World or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple’s standard end user license agreement for apps also applies.
A test version
- Hello World is being tested. Features may change, disappear or stop working, data may be lost, and there will be bugs and interruptions, sometimes without notice. Keep your own copy of anything important.
- Test builds distributed through TestFlight expire; you may need to install new ones.
- We may end the test, or the service, at any time, and will try to tell you in advance where we can.
- Using Hello World is free during the test. Hello World Premium is optional and paid (see Hello World Premium).
- The operator has created demonstration accounts to try the app out: invented people with generated portraits, some of them presented as working for Hello World. No real person is behind them. On the date of these terms, they can be seen in the app only by the operator’s account and by two testers he has chosen, although anyone who knows one of their usernames can open that account’s public card.
- Please tell us about problems through the feedback feature in the app.
Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Hello World at any time and delete your account in the app; the Privacy Policy explains what deletion erases and what stays. Deleting your account does not cancel Hello World Premium (see Hello World Premium).
- We may suspend or close your account, or remove content, if you break these terms or the law, if you put other people or Hello World at risk, if the law requires it, or if the test or the service ends. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond, unless that would be unsafe or unlawful.
- The parts of these terms that by their nature should continue — the license for content already shared, disclaimers, liability and governing law — continue after your account is closed.
Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, Hello World is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty. We do not guarantee that it will work without interruption, errors or security problems, that translations will be accurate, or that data will never be lost. We are not responsible for what other members say, post, sell or do, or for agreements between members (orders, tontines, meetings).
If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law gives you that a contract cannot take away; nothing in these terms limits them.
Limitation of liability
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, or for losses caused by other members, by other companies’ services or by events beyond our reasonable control.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims relating to Hello World is limited to 100 euros.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or deliberate misconduct, or any other liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Governing law and disputes
Governing law: State of Oklahoma, United States.
If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim before the courts there. Before going to court, please write to us so that we can try to settle the matter together.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when features change or the law requires it. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it applies, unless it is urgently needed for legal or safety reasons. If you do not agree, you can stop using Hello World and delete your account; if you keep using it after the change applies, the new terms apply to you.
General
- If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest remains in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not give it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to someone who takes over Hello World, and will tell you if we do.
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Hello World.
- These terms are published in English, French and Spanish; the three versions have the same value.
